PLATYSMAPLASTY

Lift and Define with Ease

Platysmaplasty, commonly referred to as a Neck Lift, is a form of cosmetic plastic surgery involving tightening and removing skin from the neck. Neck bands, also called platysma bands, are a consequence of the aging neck.

In youth, the flat muscle that surrounds the front of the neck is called the platysma muscle. As we age, the muscle in the front pulls apart, called diastasis, and rolls up into bands. These appear as soft tissue bands from just under the chin and can extend to the lower neck. Because it doesn’t often follow a predictable pattern of aging, neck lift surgery must be tailored to each patient’s specific need.

A neck lift (Platysmaplasty) is a cosmetic surgery that can give your neck a more contoured and youthful appearance. It works by lifting and tightening your platysma muscle. Your platysma enables movement in your lower face. When your platysma weakens, it can affect your neck’s appearance.

Typically this procedure is done in tandem with the SMAS Facelift. It’s always recommended that you see Dr. Kim to determine your surgical plan.
